Tucked into the gardens at The Hideaway Muff, An Bothán (an "BO-hawn" — Irish for "the cabin") is our newly renovated private venue, available to hire by the hour, half day or full day.
Exposed beams, a vaulted timber ceiling, a feature brick wall and a 75" smart screen — it's a beautifully characterful space that adapts to whatever you bring to it. French doors open onto the yard, brass wall sconces give it warmth in the evenings, and the whole site sits fifteen minutes from Derry, on the Inishowen Peninsula in Co. Donegal.

An Bothán works particularly well alongside an exclusive booking of The Hideaway Muff — sleeping up to 20 guests across our four pods and the 1890s Shore House. It's an ideal set-up for wedding parties who want everyone under one roof, family reunions, milestone birthday weekends, or wellness retreats with overnight stays.
Where We Are
The Hideaway Muff is in Muff Village, on the Inishowen Peninsula in Co. Donegal — at the start of the Wild Atlantic Way and the Causeway Coastal Route, overlooking Lough Foyle. Derry city is 15 minutes away. City of Derry Airport is 22 minutes; Belfast International Airport is 80 minutes. Wild Ireland is 13 minutes north and Malin Head, the most northerly point of Ireland, is around 40 minutes.

How big is An Bothán and how many people does it hold?
It's a single open-plan room with a vaulted ceiling — comfortable for around 40 seated for a ceremony or talk, 20 for a yoga or movement class with mats, and around 60 standing for a reception. For exact dimensions and a layout that suits your event, get in touch.
Can An Bothán be hired without booking accommodation?
Yes — An Bothán is bookable as a stand-alone venue by the hour, half day or full day. You don't need to be staying with us to hire the space.
Can we hire An Bothán along with the whole site?
Absolutely. Many of our wedding party, milestone birthday and retreat bookings combine An Bothán with exclusive use of The Hideaway Muff — four pods plus the Shore House, sleeping up to 20 guests across the site. Get in touch and we'll put a tailored quote together.
Is An Bothán wheelchair accessible?
The space is mostly accessible — it's a single-level room with French doors leading directly out to the yard. There are some limitations around the wider site. Please get in touch with any specific accessibility requirements and we'll talk you through what's possible.
Do you provide chairs, tables and staging?
Furniture and set-up are tailored to each booking. Tell us what you need when you enquire and we'll let you know what we can provide and what you may want to source separately.
Can we use An Bothán for a wedding ceremony?
Yes — An Bothán is hosting a wedding reception this August, and the space works well for both ceremonies and receptions. Pair it with exclusive use of the wider Hideaway Muff and your whole party can stay on-site.
Are pets allowed?
Small non-shedding pets are welcome with prior arrangement.
